The steam release handle does not lock tight into the lid but will fit loosely. If that is not enough to love, then having an inner pot that is a 3-ply bottom stainless steal cooking pot is. There is a learning curve to using it, but the more you use it, the more confident you become and find yourself willing to try new things with it.
