I've seen my mum use her stove-top pressure cooker and it's all very scary. When it started to warm up, I put in the ribs, put on the lid and turned the STEAM RELEASE HANDLE to SEALING. This is where I felt the Instant Pot would shine but after a couple weeks of use I realize that there is so much more to it. The pot come with everything you need for the 7 functions to work. Sauté and browning settings have 3 temperature levels for simmering, browning and stir-frying. The slim body design has lid holders for both left and right handed users. This weekend I cooked a half rack of ribs in some apple juice and apple cider vinegar on the Meat/Stew setting for 30 minutes then 5 minutes on Warm then vented. Place the lid on the cooker, align the mark on the lid with the  (unlock) mark and turn clockwise to the  (lock) mark.
